Choose from Thousands of Movies

Film licensing is handled through one of two independent licensing agencies. The cost for an outdoor movie screening is generally between $250 and $500 per night. Most films that are currently available on DVD are available for license. To see the full list of available movies, visit www.swank.com or www.criterionpicusa.com. Be sure to tell them Fresh Air Flicks sent you.

"Cloudy" Leads 2010 Family Film List
Once again, the animated features are the biggest draw for family audiences. Here are just a few of the G and PG rated movies available for outdoor movies this summer. Visit Swank Motion Pictures or Criterion Pictures for a complete listing. We always recommend making sure the film is suitable for your audience by screening it in advance. In addition, IMBD.com includes a "Parents Guide" in each film listing.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS; PG; 90 min.
Based on the children's book, this animated adventure follows a scientist who tries to solve world hunger only to see things go awry as food falls from the sky in abundance. This is the most delicious event since macaroni met cheese.

PLANET 51; PG; 91 min.
American astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker lands on Planet 51 thinking he’s the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders—like Chuck!

MONSTERS VS. ALIENS; PG; 94 min.
When a meteorite from outer space hits a young girl and douses her with the alien liquid Quantonium it turns her into a 48 foot monster. She is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. This crew of reluctant heroes is asked to save the earth from the evil alien Gallaxhar in this animated comedy.

THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX; PG; 97 min.
Based on the beloved story by Roald Dahl, the film tells the tale of the noble, charming and fantastic Mr. Fox who uses his wits and cunning to outfox three dimwitted farmers who tire of sharing their chickens with the crafty creature.

ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS; PG; 94 min.
Ellie (Queen Latifah) and Manny (Ray Romano) are expecting their first child and Manny is obsessed with making life perfect and safe for the family. Diego (Denis LEary) finds himself unable to catch a cocky gazelle (Bill Hader) he has been stalking and decides to leave the herd, believing that he is losing his predatory nature as a tiger.

HORTON HEARS A WHO; G; 86 min.
When an elephant named Horton hears a speck of dust cry for help, he's determined to protect the residents of the town of Whoville -- despite ridicule from his neighbors -- in this adaptation of the beloved children's story by Dr. Seuss. Steve Carell steps in as the mayor of Whoville, with an all-star cast of voice talent that includes Carol Burnett, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler and Jim Carrey as Horton.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN; PG; 105 min.
Ben Stiller returns as hapless museum night watchman Larry Daley in this sequel to the hit comedy. Though he's now working at the Smithsonian Institution, Daley continues to deal with exhibits that come to life while the museum is closed. His adventures this time include close encounters with Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams), George Custer (Bill Hader) and Ivan the Terrible (Christopher Guest). Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais and Dick Van Dyke co-star.

Always consider your audience. If you are trying to attract families, choose films for the average age of the kids and the parents will come. There are also a number of titles available that have been edited to eliminate and/or reduce offensive language, nudity, violence and sexual situations.
